DAY 47

Boy, have these been some trying times...but we're still fighting! Thank you Lord for continuing to send me strength to get through every day. Rick did really good for Vanessa again today. He was able to pick out a red cone from about 7 cones, and was able to pick out a coffee cup out of a line up of a flashlight, coffee cup, and pill bottle. His reward for doing so well was more ice...which he loves. He still has the speaking valve in and is controlling his swallowing very well, but has not been able to make a verbal response yet.

He will have to go back to United Regional tomorrow morning at 10:00 for an ultrasound of his legs to ensure there are no blood clots. And we hope to be moving to Baylor on Monday morning.

The kids are excited about Daddy going to Baylor...they both know how important it is for him to go. At the same time they realize they won't get to see us as often, and that will be hard. But, once again, we have to keep our eye on the prize...God never said it would be easy, and I know he has brought us this far, and will not leave us now.

God Bless You All,
Crystal

  1. Praise the Lord!! Oh Crystal, you are so strong, i admire you so much for your strength. I sit here in awe every time i read your posts because you are so positive. You are truly an angel. I know Baylor is going to be such a blessing for you and Rick, but at the same time hard on you and the kids. But you all will get through this. I know you have so many friends and family that will be watching over those two wonderful children. I will miss seeing them around though. Cade's little class is shrinking. I can't believe i haven't seen him all summer, i bet he has grown. If there is anything the kids need from the school or for school or whatever you let us know. Crystal, we are pulling for yall and so proud of you. Keep your faith and hold your head high because you should be so proud of yourself. We will be praying for yall tomorrow and all weekend. We love yall!!

God has a plan, you and Rick have a tremendous testimony. The Word says that we overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our Testimony. Get ready, it can't be twenty five words or less!! God Bless and strengthen you all!! Best wishes, rick

  4. Praise God!! We are so happy to hear about the move to Baylor--what a huge step. Just know that we continue to pray daily for Rick, you, Riley, and Cade. You are an amazing woman, and Rick is so blessed to have you by his side to continually push him and cheer him on. Someday soon, he will be able to read this blog, and find out himself just how strong you have been for him and the whole family.
    Lots of love & prayer,
    Tonya & Tyler
