DAY 305 & 306

Well, we did it...we finished the week as good as we started it. The last couple of days, Rick has done LOTS of walking. And still walking really good...still pulling his left foot through good and not catching his toe. Today, the community outing was cancelled because they had planned to go to the park and have relay races. It was too cold and windy to go to the park, so we played frisbee golf in the hallways. He stood to throw the frisbee and then walked down the halls with the help of Laura and Meredith. When he was waiting his turn he would lean against the wall. The hallway is about 80 ft long. When he finally got the frisbee in the goal, he sat down for about 10 minutes to recoop and then walked back down the hall to his chair. When he wasn't walking, he was pedalling his wheelchair so, by the end of the day he was really tired. He has handled his thin liquids so well, that I'm not even worried about him choking anymore. He is now transferring to a regular chair to eat...just another way to get him out of the wheelchair more and more and make him stabilize his core and keep his balance while eating. Of course, it's no problem for Rick. By ending this week well, he has put together 3 great weeks in a row! Now that is progress!

I picked up the kids in Dickens and this time it was in a windstorm...gotta love west Texas weather. Speaking of West Texas weather, hope everyone in Motley and Cottle Counties survived the storms the last couple of nights...they were some doozies!

Praise God for all his healing, for creating a brain that can renew and restore itself, for giving us the strength and help we need to get through this and for all the encouragers that keep cheering us on!

Love,
Crystal
