DAY 290

Much better day today. Rick was ready to go to work this morning. He had PT first and worked on sit to stands and balancing against the wall. He stood for 45 minutes in the standing frame and then had ST. He talked really good in ST, very loud and clear. He also worked on some cognitive things in ST and did very good with those things, too. After lunch, he laid down for a nap, then got up for OT. Emily worked on strengthening and stretching his arms. Today was one of the other patients birthdays and she always cracks Rick up. I left this afternoon to buy Robyn a b-day present and a pizza for supper. She turned 22 today, and Rick said, "I wish I was 22 again." This afternoon the program director met with the caterers to discuss the meals for the patients. We have had some meals that were pretty disapppointing and she asked for my input since I'm always here. Rick told me to "go get 'em". They were very open to suggestions and hopefully we'll get some better meals in a week or two.

We have had some bumps in the road and sometimes wonder when will we ever catch a break, but throughout all of this we have received some wonderful blessings. There really are great people in this world. Thank you so much to everyone for the prayers and all the wonderful things you have done for us. Speaking of wonderful things, so glad my roomdogs made it home from San Antonio today. They have been playing around at the womens NCAA final four and I have been home alone...and I don't like it!

Good night and God Bless!
Crystal

  2. We ran into the Colberts the other night. Darrell and Devin talked about Rick's great appetite...and his disappointment in the lack of "beverages" in the cooler, ha!
Judy Tatum has been helping me at work this week. She always asks about you. So, you are always in our thoughts and prayers! Love you!

  3. Molly, our younger daughter, worked at Turf Therapy during her years at Tech. It was a great experience for her. I don't know if it is still there, as I think the Overturfs sold it, but I know that it will be helpful. Molly saw so much improvement because of that therapy. You continue to be an inspiration to us all. Betsy and Joe Smith
