Today was a most wonderful day. This morning he did laundry in OT and moved his left hand and arm the best I've ever seen him move it. In PT he had a re-eval...I try not to sit in on those so as not to be a distraction. Kelly and Terry Haynes came by around lunch, and went out to Hold Your Horses, the theraputic riding facility with us. Rick was really happy to see them, and get caught up on the goings on in the Haynes family...and there was a lot to catch up on! Rick got really tickled listening to their stories about their kids. While we were at Hold Your Horses, he was petting on and brushing a little 10 year old gelding, but when he saw the mares and foals, that's where he wanted to go. He stood up at the gate and one mare and foal came over right away. He really enjoyed being there...the atomosphere alone was worth the trip. Now, at this point in the blog, you ladies may want to quit reading, but the men are really going to get a kick out of (and identify with) what happened next. Rick decides that he needs to use the bathroom...he went to the bathroom right before we left TLC. So, I said, "Rick, you just want to pee outside, don't you!" And he smiled and said yes. So, he stood at the gate and you got it...marked his territory! So, that's another milestone...not one I would've thought before today! I met my Dad in Dickens to pick up the kids, and Rick stayed awake until 8:30 to see them and watch a little tv. But, the day absolutely wore him out and he was happy to see his bed tonight.
We have such great friends and family. You'll never know what all of your support has meant to us through all of this...thank you so much.
Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfectly and fully developed lacking in nothing. James 1:3-4.
